In the Pink Wigs is proud to serve as both the collection and distribution facility of cancer wigs on behalf of the American Cancer Society in Durham, NC. We accept donations of items and maintain a bank of donated wigs, mastectomy bras and prosthesis as well as scarves, hats, etc. Please contact the Triangle ACS to verify any qualifications.

Helpful Information
We have wigs and scarves in many different styles and colors on display at In the Pink. Keep in mind that each wig can be ordered in a wide range of colors. You are not limited to what you see on display at the time you visit.
If you feel you’d like to choose a wig to match your natural hair color and style, it would help to come to our shop before you experience hair loss. Otherwise, feel free to bring a picture of your hair. It may help to bring along a friend for additional opinions and support.
Your wig purchase may be eligible for reimbursement by your insurance provider. Be sure to ask your physician for a prescription for a “cranial prosthesis” which you can submit along with your wig purchase receipt.
Your breast surgeon will write a prescription for a post-surgical camisole; your insurance provider may provide reimbursement for these items. You may want to consider the different styles of camisoles we offer from velcro front closures to step-into styles. These garments are also recommended when irritation from radiation treatments become too painful to wear tighter bras and clothing.
Chemotherapy and radiation treatments can be harsh on skin. If you experience extreme dryness or painful irritation, In the Pink has skin care products specially formulated for you. Certain skin care products may be eligible for reimbursement by your insurance provider. Be sure to ask your physician for a prescription for such products and we will provide a receipt you can use to submit for reimbursement.
During chemotherapy and radiation treatments, extra care should be taken to protect your skin against the harmful rays of the sun. Be sure to check out our UPF hats and gentle but effective sunscreen products.
The “split” end
When you’re finished using your wig, scarf and/or washable hat and are ready to part ways, please consider donating it. In the Pink Wigs will recondition your used wig, hat or scarf and deliver it to either the American Cancer Society or Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Self Image Boutique on your behalf. You will receive a letter acknowledging receipt of your kind donation.
